“Whoever builds a mosque, desiring thereby Allah’s pleasure, Allah builds for him the like of it in paradise.” [Sahih Bukhari]
Located in upper eastern Ghana, Kouse-Jingiri is home to a multi-faith community of 1,907 people. MGR has been working with the villagers here for over a year.
The villagers of Kouse-Jingiri have appealed to MGR donors for a new mosque. An 80 square meter mosque would allow the Muslim community here to gather in prayer every Friday. It would serve as a space for religious study, where men and women hold weekly circles to better understand their faith. It would mean the local imam can run Qur’an lessons, so that children and adults alike can learn to read Arabic and recite the Holy Book.

MGR Community Mosques Project
Mosques are the centre of any community where people can congregate for their five daily prayers and Friday congregation sermons. A mosque serves as a place where Muslims can come together not only for prayers, but for information, education and meetings.
For Muslim Global Relief the Mosque is primarily, a place for prayer, to encourage the practice of the Islamic faith in the communities, and a centre of community life. Islam preaches unity of the spiritual and the worldly aspects of life therefore community gatherings in Mosques include both spiritual and social elements. Islam emphasises the importance of education and so teaching and learning are the fundamentals of our community Mosque programme.
On completion of your Sadaqa Jariah project Muslim Global Relief will provide you with feedback. If you sponsor a Mosque in its entirety a framed photograph showing a confirmation plaque with your name, or that of a loved one will be sent to you together with location details and information from the grateful recipients.
Presently, each mosque is built to the following standards: A 600 Sq ft covered are comprising of:
- 1 x main prayer room , 1 x toilet facilities, 1 x ablution place, 1 x courtyard, 1 x veranda
