Giving Fruit Trees & Crops

Planting fruit trees and supporting village agriculture features high on our list of projects for village development. Trees provide food and shade. They benefit the environment and reduce soil erosion. Giving fruit trees and food crops are a simple and sustainable way to help feed feed and sustain themselves. Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Muslim Global Relief to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Muslim Global Relief we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Muslim Global Relief to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Muslim Global Relief will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Muslim Global Relief receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

How it Works
Once our fruit trees reach maturity, they become a life-long source of food for a poor family. As a source of income they go a long way when nurtured with care. Families are able to sell or trade their surplus fruit and fruit products to buy other foods and needful items.

£10: This is the cost of gifting one fruit tree in Pakistan. Here, the climate can accommodate everything from apples and oranges to peaches and guava. £10 covers the cost of the your gifted tree, as well as transporting and planting.

What We Do
MGR runs the Giving Fruit Trees project in remote villages, across countries affected most by hunger and poverty. The fruit trees we plant vary depending on the region, climate and natural diet of the people who will benefit. In Gaza we gift olives. In Pakistan, the trees we plant range from mangos to apricots. Below is a list of the kind of trees we gift.

Olive
Mango
Papaya
Grapes
Apples
Orange
Pomegranate
Apricots
Peaches
Guava

In some cases, farmers in the villages we work with require seeds instead of trees. Often the seeds are for maize or vegetable crops. Along with the seeds we also provide tools for planting and cultivation, as well as fertilizers.

The Hunger Issue
Hunger kills. Every day, 8,500 children die of poor nutrition and hunger related diseases. They die quietly before they’ve had a chance to live. 98% of the world’s undernourished people live in developing countries. Hunger is most prevalent across Asia, and then Sub-Saharan Africa. Out of those affected worse by hunger are women and children. Thousands of pregnant women in the developing world die during childbirth for lack of proper nutrition and maternal care. Most infants are born underweight.

World hunger is a cause of social inequality, which means that while some enjoy surplus wealth and resources, others are being crushed by a lack of the most basic human needs.
